The Cup of Excellence International Jury experience is a unique opportunity to cup coffees and participate in bridge building between producers of exemplary quality and the marketplace. Jury Members are coffee professionals with extensive experience who cup regularly and have previously participated at a Cup of Excellence competition as either a Jury Member or Observer. If this is your first time at a CoE competition, you are required to participate as an Observer.

What are the qualities of a CoE International Jury Member?

• quality-driven coffee professional with extensive cupping experience
• desire to build cross-cultural friendships with fellow Jury Members and coffee producers
• previous CoE Jury or Observer experience required
• priority given to actively supporting members of the Alliance for Coffee Excellence

As a CoE International Jury Member:

• together with other Jury Members, you are responsible for selecting Cup of Excellence award-winning coffees
• you are responsible for travel costs to and from producing country
• producing country provides your hotel, food and in-country transportation costs related to the event
• you agree to follow CoE rules and protocol for competition week

As a CoE Observer:

• you participate in cupping and discussion alongside the International Jury for personal education and training
• you are responsible for all costs: travel, hotel and in-country expenses
• you agree to follow CoE rules and protocol for competition week
• by taking part as an Observer, you will fulfill the prerequisite to serve on future CoE competitions as a full Jury Member

• CoE programs are conducted primarily in English with translation available when possible. Please contact support@cupofexcellence.org with any questions regarding your translation needs
