Farm Histroy

On December 2002, Fazenda Esperança was acquired by physician Dr. Cícero Viegas Cavalcanti de Albuquerque. The farm had been a long-time dream that came true. Since then he has been devoting his attention to the farm. In addition to Medicine, he has adopted coffee growing as his long-term project and goal.

Fazenda Esperança is located in the Gaspar Mountain Range, in the city of Carmo de Minas, in the state of Minas Gerais, and is part of the region of old coffee farms in south Minas Gerais. Located at an altitude of 1,600 m, it has a total area of 102.41 hectares, of which 40 are totally dedicated to coffee plantations. Since the land is at a high altitude, the farm produces high quality coffees.

During his first year at the farm, Fazenda Esperança received the 4th Prize of the Specialty Coffees Contest. With the required plantation upkeep, in 2003, it was awarded the 2nd Prize in the above-mentioned contest. In 2004, the Farm was again among the finalists, and received the 3rd Prize.

All production phases are supervised by Mrs. Vanda Gonçalves, the wife of Dr. Cícero V.C. Albuquerque.

Silvio Roberto Nogueira de Castro (Bebeto) is responsible for the administrative coordination of the farm. Besides being an excellent professional, Bebeto is knowledgeable about coffee growing and a great lover of coffee production. He exercises his functions with full dedication and love for what he does.

Coffee processing system

Coffee harvesting at Fazenda Esperança is performed according to the highest standards. The coffee is picked between May and September, and the beans are dried on a terrace. Recently, a new warehouse was built to store the coffee. All the farm's equipment is state-of- the art guaranteeing the high quality of its coffees.

Concern with quality

Allied to the farm's leading edge techniques and equipment, the implemented quality control standards reflect the farm's concern to ensure the excellence of its coffee beans.

Fazenda Esperança is a member of Cooperativa Café Vale do Rio Verde. The Cooperative provides support to the farm by monitoring it. The farm is also monitored by agronomist Sebastião Márcio Pereira Nogueira.

The property has always been among the four finalists of the Brazil Coffees Quality Contest, since the first time it enrolled. For us this is an evidence of our commitment to the quality of the final product.
