Farm Details
Lot#: 23 Antonio Fortes Bustamante - Fazenda Paraiso

Overview

Paraíso Farm was bought in 1977 and right after it was started the coffee and banana plantation, activities that suffered for three times with devastations caused by climate problems in 1979, 1981 and 1994. Nowadays, the crops were restarted in the varieties Yellow Bourbon and Catucaí. They are in the beginning of the coffee production and have presented excellent quality. Located in the valley of Serra da Pedra Branca, the property is full of native wood and pure and clean water sources. The place still presents favorable characteristics to the coffee production, like mild climate and permanent ventilation. From the top of the mountain Serra da Pedra Branca, which is at 5990 feet of altitude, we can enjoy a beautiful landscape of all the region, fact that gave the name Boa Vista to the borough where is located the farm.

Processing system of the coffee beans

The harvest is by hand and the coffee is taken to the Santo Inácio Ranch, as soon as it is harvested, which is in the city of Pedralva – MG, where the coffee is immediately washed, classified and pulped. The drying is done on a cemented patio for one day. Then, the coffee is transferred to a heater open around it and covered with plastic, where it is raked from 6 to 8 times a day until it reaches the ideal level of humidity for storage.

Concern on the quality

The owner of the Paraíso Farm, worried about producing coffee of quality looked for technical support from the local agronomist Mr. José Carlos de Oliveira and of other producers associated to COCARIVE (Regional Cooperative of Coffee Producers of Vale do Rio Verde), located in Carmo de Minas – MG. He also received some help from the agronomist Mr. Sebastião Márcio Pereira Nogueira. Last year, when the farm took part on a course “Management with time quality”, offered by SENAR, the owner knew Mr. Jacques Pereira Carneiro and Mr. Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira Filho, from the Carmo Coffees, who made him excited with the possibilities of giving more value to the coffee produced trough exportation.
