Overview
Água Limpa Farm is located in Vale da Grama, in the border with the
city of Poços de Caldas, South of Minas. The region has lands from
volcanic origin that are very fertile, with high altitudes and mild
average temperature. It originally belonged to Mr. Sebastião Lázaro
Ribeiro de Andrade and Mrs. Maria Oliveira de Andrade, who built the
coffee patios, the machinery house and the farmhouse almost one century
ago. At this same period, it was cultivated the first crops too.
Nowadays the owners by inheritance are the couple Mrs. Lucy Ribeiro de
Andrade Cyrino Nogueira and Mr. Plínio Cyrino Nogueira, including their
children. With a traditional expertise in the production of high quality
coffee, the varieties of coffee planted on the farm are: Red and Yellow
Bourbon, Red and Yellow Mundo Novo and Catuaí. The seedlings of Bourbon
are cultivated on the farm and come from the seeds that are taken from
that same land and adapted to the region. The owners keep a constant
concern on the environment, preserving the native wood and the rivers,
considering the natural resources as the main richness of the property,
where we can find fertile land and abundance of water. They also worry
about the human resources and because of this, they provide good
conditions of life quality to their employees. They have an official
soccer field, a sportive court and a club for leisure and parties on the
farm for use of the workers.
Processing system of the coffee beans
The harvest on the farm is done by hand, over a cloth, with the help
of machinery of harvest, and the coffee is transported, washed and
pulped for drying, which is done mainly on patios and, if necessary, it
is complemented with the use of driers. The property possess a proper
infra-structure for the coffee processing, which is stored in wooden
storehouses and rests for at least 30 days while waits for the
processing in the machinery installed on the farm since the 50th decade.
Concern on the quality
The Água Limpa Farm is part of the Vale da Grama Association, whose
agronomist Mr. Marco Antônio Della Torre supervises the practices and
management of the crops. It is also done a diary observation by the
technicians Mr. Marcos A. Palchi and Mr. Marcony A. Andrade. The coffee
that is identified as a special one by the broker is separated into lots
and it rests in the warehouse until the period of transport, processing
and preparation for the electronic machinery. This coffee is put on sale
for the companies of the special coffee area.
