History

I was born in the municipality of Potosí (Nariño), but I was studying in the capital of the department. I met there who is now my wife. She comes from Sánchez, a village located in the municipality of Chachagüí . We got married and we decided to live in her town. We bought a farm which didn't have any coffee crop.

I was working as a driver, and in one time, the Committee of Coffee Growers of Nariño, contracted me for the transport of several growers for a training program in another department. I could have the same training than the growers and I was very excited about the coffee crops. So, when I came back to my farm I started working with coffee. Today, my wife, my 5 sons and myself, we all live from the coffee crops. I also can provide for work to some people from the region.

Environmental Care

I avoid contaminating the environment, so I don't use pesticides for pest control. I keep native trees in the borders of the natural sources of fresh water.

Coffee Processing Information

We fertilize twice per year (March and October), with a mix of chemical products. We don't have troubles with broca because the altitude the farm is located. We only pick up red cherries, depulping is done the same day and fermentation takes between 12 and 16 hours. We wash with fresh water and drying process is done by sun exposure.
