| History
Luis Alberto born in Pitalito in 1970. With his wife Floridali Pinto and 4 children are a family completely dedicated to the coffee crops. He started as a grower when he was very young as the easiest way to earn some money. His goal since he was young was to buy his farm. As a reward for his hard work, the owner of the farm he was working in, gave him "a piece" of land which Luis Alberto paid with his job. The first name of the farm was "nothing is worst" and then he changed the name to La Perla del Otún. In the farm, he produces all the products for the house consumption. With some savings, he bought a lot of 1 hectare only for coffee production, with a density of 6000 trees per hectare. Luis Alberto Jojoa is dedicated to his job, very quiet and shy. He is also a member of the Managing Council of the associative group Coomagro.
Environmental Care
The borders of the farm are defined with native trees. He makes a rational use of the water in the farm. The water comes from a community aqueduct. Luis is conscious of the preservation of the flora and fauna of his region.
Coffee Processing Information
He uses the pulp of the coffee as an organic fertilizer. He is building now the infrastructure for the ecologycal wet milling process, with the training and support of the extension service of the Federation. The drying process of the coffee is done by sun exposure in a "parabolic drier" and all his coffee is sold to the Cooperative through his associative group.
