History
I am a 45 years old producer, I started in the coffee
as an inheritage from my father, he was born in Tolima Province, but he
moved to Boyacá province where he met my mother. So I was born in Boyacá
but all the family moved to Meta province looking for better opportunities
in life. My father died 4 years ago and my husband left the house as well,
so I am in charge of all the farm with my youngest son. My other 2 sons
left the family several years ago with their own families. I have a 20 hectares
farm, but I only have 6 in coffee, 3 hectares in grass for cattle and 1
hectare for products for the house.
Environmental Care
All the wastes from the wet milling process and from
the house are adequately treated. The pulp is used to produce organic fertilizer.
Residual water is filtered in special tanks before going back to the water
sources
Coffee Processing Information
The wet milling process in my farm is done following
the traditional system, picking red cherries, depulping the afternoon after
the picking and fermerting 12-16 hours. Solar parabolic system is used for
drying the parchment.
