Overview
Cenen bambague was born in Pitalito, he grow up in the little town of
Bruselas, his parents very tradicional in coffee. He started with a small
farm “Villa Rica” that over some time grow thanks to Flordeli Gomez his
wife’s help; also to his children: Leydy Viviana and Geison; who are in
high school.
He feels very thankful to the coffee; he could gave them the opportunity
to go to the high school, also to the all of the trade and knowledge about
the process and the improvement of the quality that he has gotten through
institutions like the Coffee Committee with the extension service, to SENA,
and the Manuel Mejía Foundation.
Care of the Environment
His quote: “This coffee farm is certified by Rainforest, we take care
of the environment, specialty the forest, the natural water of the region,
the birds that wake us up every morning with their beautiful signings and
give us the motivation to keep working for a sustainable coffee; at the
same time we protect the wild animals that cross the fields and the region.
We manage in an integral way the coffee pulp and the organic residues that
are produce in the farm; those are used later for the fertilization of the
vegetable garden and for the coffee nursery. We do activities looking for
the preservation and recuperation of the soil; also in rational manner use
water.
Process
FERTILIZATION: Applications of chemical fertilizer.
DISEASES AND PLAGUES CONTROL: They use integral control of the field.
For “la broca“ they use cultural practices in the picking like RE-RE (Repaso
de Recolección) Harvesting Review.
HARVEST CYLE: Semester A 20% and Semester B 80%
