| Overview Julio César Muriel Duque was born in the Municipality of Cubarral, state of Meta in December 5th of 1973, he studied his primary studies in the Village Sta. Barbará; the high school in “Concentración de Desarrollo Rural Medellín del Ariari” in Meta, he has a degree as an agriculture technician. He studied also in SENA – Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje – about management and conservation of the soil in the village “Brisas del Tonoa” in 2004. He is the manager of his farm with his wife and his father, with plenty disposition for getting a better quality coffee, which is his main reason in the field and for what he is working. He is very thankful for the service of the National Federation of Coffee Growers. He is a great coffee leader; he is member of the Cooperative of Coffee Growers of Meta and member of the group “ASPROBCUBARRAL”. Care of the Environment The farm limits with the Natural Reserve “Parque Nacional Natural Sumapaz”, the practices of conservation for the environment are part of the natural context of living for the farmers and neighbours. All of them are working to reduce the negative impact of the activities in their own lands, for example: Establishment of alive-barriers; conservation of natural water; coffee process using the pulping machine and natural fermentation; the by-products are use to make organic compost. Process FERTILIZATION: One application of organic fertilizer per year. DISEASES AND PLAGUES CONTROL: They don’t´ have to many problems of diseases or plagues, but for “la broca“ they use cultural practices in the picking like RE-RE (Repaso de Recolección) Harvesting Review.
