Montes de Oro is a company that belongs to the Gamboa
Chacón family which have dedicated more than 30 years of coffee
production and recently processes the coffee in their own mill. The
manager of the company is Emilio Gamboa, an Agronomist Engineer, who
works together with his father and his father’s well known experience,
being together in charge of the whole coffee plantation in general. The
farm works under the concept of Integrated Handling of Plagues, where
samplings in different areas are made and chemical controls are done
when the crop needs it.
The coffee crop lies under shade with different types
of trees (poro, guaba and guabilla) from the family of the Fabaceas, as
well as Musas sp ( banana tree and guinean) plus other species of
plants. Natural barriers are used to protect and to increase the organic
matter in the ground, such as zacate vertiber ( vertiber grass) .
Emilio quotes “With the mill, we have experienced
emotions, preoccupations, passion for our product, but most important it
is the mill that has united our family, who participates actively in the
business”.
It is important to mention, that the quality in the
coffee cup, is the joint effort of the producer, the mill and the people
who commercialize the product, but without a doubt “to be excellent and
to achieve success, the most important, is to do what you like the
most".
