About Us
The history of finca El Bosque de San Gerardo begins
in 1905 when the Samayoa family founded finca Belén. in 1905. Fifteen
year after, the farm was heritage and divided. Starry-Samayoa owns now
what we know as finca El Bosque de San Gerardo, since 1960. The farm is
located 30 Km from Guatemala city. At the shores of lake Amatitlán, in
the South the farm if located next to Santa Elena Barillas County, Villa
Canales Municipality and Volcán Pacaya, 5 Km away from the farm.
The farm cultivates 80 Hectares of coffee and
provides around 1 Hectare to each worker living in the farm to cultivate
corn, tomatoes and any other product for their own consumption.
Annually, the farm donates money to Mesías Bajas town, to improve their
school, church or anything else they need. They also contribute with
transport for the teachers that work in the school.
The farm utilizes around 24 tramps per Hectare to
prevent Broca. Aware of the importance of utilizing clean production
techniques to preserve the environment, the farm uses organic
fertilizers for the soil and coffee trees.
Being as close to the city as it is, the farm is not
only a good example of quality coffee, but also a beautiful sight to
appreciate the view of the majestic Volcán Pacaya.
