Overview
My name is Jose Noel Talavera, I am 40 years old, originally
from Estelí and I live in Dipilto, Nueva Segovia. My wife’s name is Gladis
Espinales and we have four children. We work as a team handling and managing
the production of “QUALITY AND NOT QUANTITY” of coffee on our land. My wife
has been key in the supervision of the picking of the coffee crop as well
as in the selection of the beans. "I did not know much about coffee", my
parents taught me the basics of basic grain production. After a military
life, which I left in 1987 I met my wife. She is the daughter of a coffee
producer and thanks to my father-in-law, I entered the coffee sector 16
years ago.
Becoming the first place winner of the Cup of Excellence
2006, represents a hopeful economic future full of opportunities and it
is a very important achievement for our whole family. In the quality of
our coffee you have the great effort and persistence of my family.
The geographic position of the farm contributes to a
large extent in the quality of the coffee, as well as the handling in the
different production processes and being associated to an organization like
UCAFE that has offered much technical support and has promoted infrastructure
improvements projects in the zone of Dipilto.
I participated in the Cup of Excellence, because UCAFE
assured me through the cupping process that my coffee has the quality to
win. My wife and I are confident to continue producing the best coffee in
Nicaragua.
