Overview
My name is Andres Figueroa López, I am a 54 year old father of 5
children, we live in Ocotal, Nueva Segovia.
I had no idea how good the quality of my coffee was and I had been
selling it as a commercial coffee in the past. I would like to thank the
dry mill Las Segovias for having motivated and convinced me to
participate to me in the Cup of Excellence.
For whole family and I are very excited for having won the seventh
place in the Cup of Excellence the first time we participated it is a
great achievement. As I mentioned it is the first time we participated
in the Cup of Excellence even though I have been growing coffee my whole
life. My family has been a very important support in the processing of
the coffee; they are in charge of processing in the wet mill and we hire
very efficient and conscientious workers to harvest the coffee during
the harvest season.
The farm located in the Dipilto, Nueva Segovia area, has privileged
conditions that contribute to the quality of the coffee. The altitude
where we grow coffee is very privileged since we can grow other quality
products besides coffee, like strawberries. The dedication that my
family gives to classifying, de-pupling and washing the coffee is by far
one of the greatest factors that influence the quality of our coffee.
The premium we will obtain in the auction is a good opportunity for
us to improve the quality of our coffee. I am now going to put in more
effort to produce a better quality of coffee in order to obtain a better
position in the Cup of Excellence next year; I now feel like one of the
best coffee producers in the world. |
