Overview

My name is Emilio Gutiérrez and I live in Ocotal Nueva Segovia. I am an agronomist and 2nd generation coffee producer which I inherited from my father. I am married and have 3 children.

I feel proud and happy to be one of the winners of the Cup of Excellence, this for me is a result of the hard work and dedication from my family and workers of the Loma Fria Cipreses farm, located in the community Loma Fria, Dipilto Nueva Segovia. This prize is the success of a team, in spite of the difficulties that have presented to us.

My family by tradition has been dedicated to the cultivation of coffee and I have been in the business for the last 15 years. Besides coffee I also dedicate my time in herd breeding, although in a smaller scale since coffee is the fundamental product of the farm.

As a coffee producer, one of my objectives is to conserve and to improve the quality of the grain; therefore I plant coffee in the highest lands of the farm, since height is an indispensable condition for the production of quality coffee. Also shade is an important aspect as well as making sure all the care is applied during the process of coffee cultivation and wet milling.

I hope that the world market gets to know Dipilto Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, as the producing zone for excellent coffee quality and thus to gain better prices for our product.
