Overview

I am Salatiel Zavala Ferrufino, of origin Honduran-Nicaraguan, I was born 40 years ago and live in Dipilto Nueva Segovia. I am married and have 2 children.

Being a winner of the Cup of the Excellence is something that I have been seeking, by participating in previous years to show the entire world that we have the best coffee and that when we want to achieve something we will. This makes us feel very proud since the majority of the winners this year are from the region of Dipilto Nueva Segovia.

My parents say that I was born under a coffee plant and I have been growing in this system, therefore all my life is related to coffee, so much that I breathe coffee, I dream coffee, I live coffee and I drink coffee also. Nevertheless, along with my family I dedicate to commerce since this has been an economic alternative during the time the coffee prices were low.

To maintain the quality of coffee in my farm there are important factors that must exits like: the climate, vegetation where the coffee develops, management that we provide to the farm and the management that we give during the wet mill. Nothing is a secret, all is known and in due time, therefore every day we learn something new for the management of coffee to maintain quality.

Last year, along with other producers collectively won first place in the Cup of the Excellence, this time I stayed within the top winners and with the support of my family we will continue to work and improve our quality and quantity in order to continue participating in the Cup of the Excellence since it is a door that cannot be left closed.
