The owner of this good land located in the hillside, is a single woman whom had to assume the challenge when she inherited this land.

Just like many other women, she had to move forward and with the advice of Don Moncho, her brother, who is also a producer, she decided to ask for a bank loan.

At the beginning it was very difficult to pay the debt due to the devastation caused by the Mitch Hurricane in 1998. Practically all the crop for that year was destroyed. “To see my crop devastated by the mud currents was very sad” she tells us, but she did not give up and with the expertise of Don Moncho she was able to move forward in little time.

To be elected for the quality of her coffee samples, was a great encouragement. Today María Nieves a small producer is well known in the region. She expects to obtain better results since her coffee plantations have more flowers than in other years. “For me is a good sign for the 2007-2008 harvest. My dream is to get to the first places” she ends saying.
