Marcio Peralta Paguaga

Right in the middle of the heart of the mountains of Nueva Segovia (in Mozonte) we find Don Marcio supervising his workers, who are enthusiastically cleaning the coffee trees founded in the farm “Las Golondrinas”. A farm considered by many as very important farm. Don Marcio makes sure that everything is in order, taking care of every detail and getting ready for the next coffee crop.

We underline the importance of the coffee lots owned by Don Marcio, because he won the first place of the contest “The cup of excellence”, a place that has gained him the admiration of his small coffee producers colleagues

In this region, Don Marcio is well known for his witty and friendly personality and people appreciates him very much… while we drink a cup of coffee he tells us how he started in this field:

“By the time I acquired this property in 1977 there wasn’t anything… I started sowing parcel by parcel ….” While he points out to the mountains that are close to his property and he continues saying:

“At the beginning, I came walking… then riding a mule and by the time there was a passable road I bought a small truck” tells Don Marcio.

“I must thank my workers… without them it had been impossible to reach the first place…. Believe me, the credit is for them….because as much as me, they have put all their love to this type of job” he says referring to working in the field.

“Every body asks me which is my secret… I answer… to love every little tree, pamper it and take care of it… the trees will later appreciate it and give you their best fruit…. That is the real secret of the golden grain”

Don Marcio knows very well the field. Everybody agrees that he deserves to win the desired first place. He is a simple man and a coffee lover, a real example of perseverance and also a lover of Mother Nature.
