“Santa María de Lourdes” Estate, Ocotal
Octavio José Peralta
Octavio José Peralta Paguaga, a veterinarian, is more
like an orchestra man, because besides of owning a sausage factory, a
pig farm and a horse school, his passion is the coffee world and its
business.
“I love coffee and that is why I left my veterinarian
clinic to give myself entirely to the excellence that being a cup winner
demands” … “I am surrounded by two great collaborators … Don Arnoldo y
Chepe, who looks after my coffee plantations since 16 years ago”. He
tells us this while he caresses his female dog “Saskia”.
Octavio does not hide his liking for business and he
is planning to be part of the “tourist route of coffee” an idea that for
him is amazing. He believes that being part of this route will bring
good incomes to those entrepreneurs that are interested in the adventure
tourism. “I have a beautiful view in my farm and some furrows that I am
fixing to see again!” He shows us a sign that says: “Feeding bird area”.
That is how he calls the area where future tourists will be able to
throw pictures to exotic birds and the flora.
“To offer a great quality coffee and to be able to
drink it at the coffee plantations, is something that Europeans really
appreciate… that is why my priority is to keep high standards of quality
in my farm… is not far from now that Santa Maria de Lourdes Estate
becomes a little mountain hotel… I am working on that”
After this conversation, Octavio and his “mandador”
(the person in charge of the farm) talk about the great location and
climate of the farm and the future of the next crop.
