Farm Details
Lot#: 3 Francisco Esteban Bendaña McEwan - El Guaval
El Guaval El Guaval El Guaval
Farm: El Guaval

My mother Maria Teresa McEwan de Bendaña bought Siares Estate, which is a larger (310 hectares) property, that comprises “El Guaval” which a special plantation next to the main water source and the primary forest at the highest part of the property that goes from 1000 meters to 1,250 meters above sea level. The total production this year was 500 bags (69 kgs).

Siares Estate, previously owned by the Cuadra Somarriba family for 60 years, has been twice a winner in the Cup of Excellence (14th place in 2002 & 11th place in 2007), and winner of the SCAA’s Q Auction in 2003. This special coffee has always been washed with natural spring water and fermented for 36 hours. This year the drying process was done at Beneficio La Pita on special raised drying beds under the sun, which allows for a slower and more homogeneous dry and even blueish color. It is also cupped and selected at least four times by a team of three International Jury cuppers that work at the mill.

I am a third generation of a quality coffee producing family since my grandfather Esteban McEwan and my vision is to continue this family tradition contributing to the community’s development and delivering the best coffee from Nicaragua.
