Missoula MT. (April 13, 2006) - Colombia farmers will enjoy $5.21/lb. for their exemplary coffees that were auctioned off today on the Cup of Excellence® website.

The Cup of Excellence® has historically enjoyed both a recognizable group of bidders loyal to the program and new bidders consisting of small to large roasters. This auction was no exception as new bidders logged in from Russia to Spain. Even a Colombia specialty roaster bought one lot to be enjoyed by local coffee aficionados. Larger lots obtained higher prices as well, with La Virginia’s 48-bag lot going for $10.30/lb. This lot was purchased by a group of US roasters but proves that the Cup of Excellence® program can benefit both small and large farmers committed to improving quality.

This is the 23rd auction for the Cup of Excellence® program which is dedicated to the appreciation of exemplary coffee worldwide. It is managed by the non-profit Alliance for Coffee Excellence Inc., in partnership with coffee producing countries.
